We took to Sullivan's Island, SC for a house wash, patio cleaning, deck cleaning, and paver cleaning. This property's exterior surfaces had been neglected for some time and had a thick buildup of algae and mildew on the porch railings, brick paver walkway, and wood decking. Their condition was so bad that they posed a health hazard as the pavers and wood decking were slippery to the touch. Our team at Mount Pleasant Pressure Washing was happy to take on this intensive cleanup.
We started with a lengthy treatment of the brick pavers, as our biocide cleaners needed ample time to work in and loosen up all the organic contaminants. We then took to the house wash which was complicated by itself. There were several wooden doors around the property, which in the presence of sodium hypochlorite (the main chemical we use) can bleach the doors and leave spots all over the finish. We opt to use sodium percarbonate, which is a milder, non-bleaching biocide, to clean within 10-15 feet of the wooden doors.
We successfully removed the mold, mildew, and algae from various surfaces around the home including the porch railings, ceilings, siding, windows, and gutter exteriors.
After treating the brick, we gave it a quick pressure washing - enough pressure to dislodge the debris but not so much to chip any bricks or mortar joints. The buildup was still caked on very heavily, so we treated it again and went to the wood decking. After cleaning the wood decking with a mild cleaner and neutralizer, the wood had a nice brown color and was free of any nasty algae and mold.
